American quick connects

When I was in America way back when I bought a bunch of air quick disconnect fittings but they were a different type to the ones I have. They don't work with the normal ARO style ones I buy here, also, to connect the two fittings together you need to pull back the sleeve.

Anyway, I need to find a few more of these particular types of quick connects. So you understand what I'm talking about, the type I bought in America look like the fitting in the bottom row, second from left in the picture. The ones I usually buy are in the bottom row, first on the left.

Does anyone know what the ones second from the left are called? I can never find them here and no one understands what I'm talking about when I ask where I can find them. :wink:

Edit: Perhaps this is a better picture. The silver QC is the one I got from America, the gold QC is the one I buy here in NZ.

If you want to know why i'm asking, I'm reviving the M480 Hybrid (coz I can) and if I find these particular QCs, I'll have an interchangeable fueling meter setup.

Go to McMaster Carr site and search for "quick-disconnect hose couplings".

1st one is ARO

2nd one is Industrial

No not yet. Been meaning to get around to it but since I'm not too worried about sabot design (my expertise is lacking in that area), I've been a bit lazy and was just waiting for LeMaudit and JSR to finalise a design.

industrial or "milton" style are the most common ones i see around here.
The second one from the left looks like the industrial/milton design

Ok, the second fitting is industrial, the third is automotive (dunno what you would need it for but it is...) And the fourth I dont know.

The one on the far right is pretty much obsolete. I saw some in use on a farm on a really old compressor. The other 3 are common and in my local hardware store. I keep a set of each in the bag I travel with when I take my air cannon so I can use whatever compressor is handy at the site.

When buying the fittings in bulk instead of individually packaged, they are quite inexpensive.

I've only ever heard them referred to as "foster" fittings. Foster IS a manufacturer of such items...the ones used in paintball have a resemblance to the 1/8" FST series.
