HPA Pump Concept

I would like to know if pump like this could work as intended :?

I forgot to add this to the diagram but the main piston is 25mm and the smaller pipe is 5mm

The space with the large tube and piston and the small tube are all the same container (volume) and will therefore be all at the same pressure. Changing the tube size does not change the pressure.

Ah that's a shame. How do two stage pumps work then? Id love to replicate one as I have access to a lathe but im not sure how complex the design is.

They use two pistons. One large one for low pressure at high volume and a second one much smaller to take the compressed air from the first stage and compress it again to much higher pressure.
