....you mean this one?

That is what I thought.

The reason I did not vent upward is, I do not mind the barrel rise. After all, this is not an automatic weapon. :)

I want to maximize recoil reduction, hence the double side vents.

In this regard your design is pretty much spot on, looking forward to your results :)

Those with CNC machining capabilities might want to look up the work of Norbert Galliot, he designed some fantastically complex but apparently very effective brakes.

Here is the finished brake. I have a total of 4 hours in it so far. I have not had a chance to fire it yet, however.

I chucked the barrel into the mill vise and milled the slots. Then I slipped the brake over the barrel. It is clamped in place with two 1/4-20 bolts.

A standard compound round passes the first two slots entirely before the O-ring exits the barrel. So, the venting should be good. This brake has far more flow area than most I have seen. It should work well.

To give you an idea of the size of it, I included a picture of the end of the barrel in my hand.

Fantastic job and the design has all the attributes that should make it very effective, when do you think you will test it?

Good question.

It has been raining here. It should be mid part of next week. I would suppose.

I finally had a chance to test the muzzle brake. It reduces the recoil a noticeable amount. If I had to put a number on it, I would say 25% or so less recoil.

One major difference, however, is the fact that various slug weights has little affect on recoil. So, the heavier the slug, the slower it moves in the barrel and the more venting occurs to reduce recoil.

Any videos with and without the brake to compare?

I do, in fact. However, the quality of the latest videos sucks. We will be doing some serious damage testing on July 9th. I will post some videos then.
