BSP threads?

So, i'm interested in buying a check valve for my pump project.
and was wondering if BSP threads would be the same as the steel/iron pipes and fittings you normally find in hardware stores.

Rather than speculate (or go off on a rant ) on where you live or what might be available to you....I'll suggest you ASK AT THE STORE where you intend to make your purchase.

Ah you're in MrCrowleyland, I mean New Zealand

We generally use BSP over here so it would be fine. I believe our galv. iron fittings are imported and have NPT threads but they work with BSP fittings as well, you may have to use a generous amount of Teflon tape though.

I always find brass fittings thread together too well while galv. iron fittings are extremely difficult.

Yeah, i agree. I might just take the fitting and fit it at the store.

Yeah, iron fittings are really hard to tighten. Sometimes it's impossible to tighten them all the way down. I can only tighten them up to maybe 4-6 threads then it's impossible to tighten more with hand tools.

also, brass fittings seem to have no taper while iron fittings have taper from start to finish, it's impossible to thread it all the way down.....

Maybe it's the manufacture's specs? not to sure.. could be a thread feature so it doesn't leak.

Don't even start... Wait until you've tried to tighten SS fittings together.
