How Do you unscrew the valve of the top of co2 tanks

Cannons powered by pneumatic pressure (compressed gas) using a valve or other release.

i have an old co2 tank for a beer system that my Grandad had, its about 30 years old, i emptied it through the hammer valve and drilled it through but something in the valve got stuck in the cylinder, how would i get it out because the thread is brass with a silver coloured ring around the bottom and i have tried with a wrench put i cant remove it. help :D

Put the bottle in a vise, and get a pipe wrench and just keep pushing,

Pressure test that before you use it, looks like it's taken a bit of abuse. Fill it with water and pressurize to twice the pressure you plan to use it at.

its fine the only damage was the paint and label which i have sanded off. also it had 2600 psi of co2 in it, i de-pressurized it by pressing the valve in on a rock. And Im gonna put a 1/2" hex nipple that reduces to 1/4" for the elbow into my QEV. and im only pressurizing to 300 psi, also to answer your question i opened the valve with the wrench i kicked it really hard and the valve came off.

How hot was the bottle? :shock:

CO2 is only ~800PSI at room temperature.

i kept it in my shed which has insulation and a window in the roof its kinda hot in there, i pressure tested it but it cooled

The CO2 would have to be upwards of 200 degrees Fahrenheit to be under that much pressure at rated fill.

yah, the bottle was about 200 degree f
