10mm is just a hair larger than 3/8" so I'll go for a 3/8" bolt and see how that goes.

I went to the hardware today, I could not find any bumpers like the ones you described. Do you see any issue with a very stiff spring, that is about 1" short from touching the piston in the closed position?

In theory this would allow the piston 1" of movement before it hit the spring "bumper"

Sounds like it would work, I would put some sort of cushion or rubber on the spring to prevent damage to the piston.

I found it at a hardware store the size of Home Depot in the plumbing area, if that helps any further. Similar items like this or this may also work well if used with two or three of them. They seem to be some sort of rubber seals for cisterns, at least that's what came up when I searched 'cistern rubber'.

I used an extremely stiff spring in the hybrid and the piston rendered it useless on the first shot. Before it was broken, I could stand on the spring (~80kg) and not notice any significant compression. So I don't think a spring would be a long-term solution although it may work short term.

You could try a coiled hose, I had issues with it causing my piston to bounce back but that was due to my small pilot valve flow and the design of the cannon so you might have more luck.

Holy crap that things insane! Can't wait for higher pressure shots and for you to stick 10 foot barrel on that thing
