My first piston
I just made a piston, which i have never attempted before, have one but didnt build it myself, therefore i thought i would give it a go,
just basic washers rubber washers and floating o-rings, nuts and threaded rod
gunfreak built my first one, but i did mine by using different washers then what my first one has
gunfreak your a genious , thanks for my first piston dude!!!!!!
I love the way mine works!!!!
here it is

Did you seal it all up with epoxy? If not, the groove cuts in the washers aren't really required and I'm not sure how your sealing face wouldn't leak. You say it works so I assume you epoxied it together.
Nope no epoxy here, just used teflon tape on the threaded bolt, that is allMrCrowley wrote:Did you seal it all up with epoxy? If not, the groove cuts in the washers aren't really required and I'm not sure how your sealing face wouldn't leak. You say it works so I assume you epoxied it together.
Im happy with it!!!

Ah ok, well it will still leak out the sealing face. In this instance, you're not going to get a metal-metal seal with the metal washer and metal nut. The washer doesn't have threads so it probably wont seal against the nut (or spring washer) unless somehow some teflon tape got pinched between the two and it may act as a rubber gasket and seal, unlikely though.
I imagine the leak through the two o-ring washer assemblies will be enough to not require the grooves cut in the washers, so you probably didn't have to do that but doesn't matter now.
I'm just saying what I know from experience and what you have told me in this topic, chances are air will leak out the bolt, washer, spring washer, nut assembly on the sealing face.

Nice piston. What are you using as a bumper?

Not bad, I think you are finally getting it. What are the smaller metal washers for?? Overkill in my opinion, but good job!

Go Bruins!!!!
did you use clear epoxy? if you did good job, cause i can barely see it,Gun Freak wrote:My piston does have epoxy on it, did you look at the front?
ill have to put some on mine!!!, thanks though
it holds the 2 inch washer in place, the 2 inch ones, are a little big for the boltmattyzip77 wrote:Not bad, I think you are finally getting it. What are the smaller metal washers for?? Overkill in my opinion, but good job!

My 2" washers were 3/8" ID but I still got away with using them because I used the circular ring part on the nuts to center them.

Yes I figured that out, when I was making mine I needed to tighten them bolts like a mutha f*cka!!!!Gun Freak wrote:My 2" washers were 3/8" ID but I still got away with using them because I used the circular ring part on the nuts to center them.

If anything, use nuts so they are the same size or a little bigger than the inner diameter of your 2 inch washers like gf said. you want to make the piston lighter, not heavier!!
