For the issue of wandering, maybe adding backspin will fix that. A sort of hop up system. It works for airsoft, the principle should hold steady on large scale.

I'm not sure it would, as the projectile is spinning around an axis perpendicular to the direction of travel. My understanding is that backspin creates lift via the Magnus effect, flattening the trajectory at the expense of velocity, but does nothing to stabilise the projectile in the same way rifling does.

Won't stop 'em from spinning...but would make it worthwhile.

Well, here is the future barrel in its raw form with the experimental ammo fitting quite perfectly as is. The only thing is that the balls are not perfectly round, so they jam a little if rotated. This should not be a problem for the cannon with any ammo jamming as the gun should be able to withstand a complete barrel jam, meaning the barrel won't come off and nothing will explode (hopefully)

Do you mean deliberately featuring (feeturing?) feet to tick me off

:D

Looks good, when will you be firing it, and at what?

The lower extremities being shown was intentional as hell. They will be fired when the design is done, raw material ordered and parts machined. It depends on how busy the shop is since this project will be the lowest on the priority list likely. It could be a couple months maybe. Possible sooner if I can get my ass in gear, make some design decisions (hardest part) and get drawings made.

EDIT: The "at what" part...I will fire them far and away at nothing, and I will likely feeture a "wood vs wood" war where I see how much damage the wood balls do to plywood and maybe some other fun stuff. We'll see what I can find.

The shít you store in your brain... :D

Moonbogg, how much did that barrel set you back? Very sexy indeed, would suit my needs quite well. I'm gonna do some searching for wooden balls, they look like they could be fun to shoot.
