When you heat nitrous oxide to about 570 degrees F (~300 C), it splits into oxygen and nitrogen. So the injection of nitrous oxide into an engine means that more oxygen is available during combustion. Because you have more oxygen, you can also inject more fuel, allowing the same engine to produce more power. Nitrous oxide is one of the simplest ways to provide a significant horsepower boost to any gasoline engine.
there nagger, i rephraised it, by behind the carb i mean after the airbox, cause on my atv the carb is attched at the airbox so the only place other than the airbox to inject it is after the carb

THE BUTTON OF INSANITY
if you are a rider who needs the wildest, most powerful utility machine around, then look no further than a nitrous oxide system. installing a nitrous oxide system can mean an extra 20HP at that push of a button! if that instant power increase doesn't get your attention, then the hefty $800+ price tag will. depending on your choice of system, it could mean a price tag as high as $1200! why would anyone turn to expensive nitrous? the answer is simple-raw power. some of our ATV compatriots are looking for a no-holds-barred game of horsepower, and nitrous is the ultimate weapon.
*there are two types of nitrous-oxide systems available for purchase: the wet system and the dry system. briefly explained, a wet system injects the nitrous directly into the combustion chamber via the intake manifold, while a dry system is external and is mounted inside the air box (outside of the air filter). there are really no advantages (horsepower wise) to one type of system. the dry system is the easiest to install and requires minimal teardown of the machine, mhile a wet system requires a bit more work to install, but doesn't affect the machine's air/fuel mixture like a dry system (which requires rejetting the carboraton). ultimately, nitrous is pricy and a bit exotic, but it can sure turn heads with the simple push of a button.

just have one of your friends buy it for you, just have him give it to you the next time he sees you. or tell your parents it this new thing for paintball guns and it like safer or something.
