hey everyone, im looking for a little help on an idea i've had for awhile...

everyone know's that paintball guns have that magic little regulator and high pressure valve that makes them able to run on portable and incredibly feasible co2 tanks, i bought a tight-bore barrel for my tippmann 98 custom, and after pulling the stock barrel out of the bottom of my bag one day i realized... what if i could use this to do something awesome? my idea, take that old crap barrel and fit it too pvc (JB weld), then open it up to a gravity fed clip that feeds preloaded shotgun wads filled with airsoft bb (that ideas already tried and tested works great) and then continues to a barrel and to the intended target. great part about a paintball gun is that its adjustable, so you could turn it down if your causing major pain (or up if your friends being a jerk) and the massive airflow of the co2 blast negates any losses to the non-airtight fit of the clip design,

so basically im asking for ideas on clips, i've never got any kind of clip besides a fitted tee with marbles in it too work before so this is outside my knowledge a little help from you guys would be great

I would suggest, rather than wasting a tight bore barrel, that you make it feed straight into the paintball barrel. Make paper sabots, fold and tape one end, then fill with bb's and place a paper towel wad to keep them from falling out. Load into paintball barrel, and let em fly.

huh, well gives me some ideas, i would like to not have to use pvc shells to make the action work ya know? but i like the idea with the wood around the pvc to screw into and stuff, and it almost looks like he used cardboard on the build? is there any more to this post i read some stuff on deleting stuff and using it for a competition, i'd like to have a little better idea of how this thing works though.

and would it be wrong of me to just try a simply gravity fed mag made from glued acrylic sheet? i just thought it would look cleaner and better, and just had the shells drop in one by one, i mean it works for marbles, should work similarly for a shot gun wad shell

just looked up a chart on propane pressures at certain temps, and about 80 degrees F yields 128psi, where as the next given value is 92psi at 60degrees F, these are definitely safe numbers for pvc with out a regulator. im planning on just using a modified torch attachment (going to drill a bigger hole into the brass fitting which simply limits flow by having a ridiculously small hole in it) and running a high pressure hose to the back of a valve, which should provide quick, instant shots of about 100 psi burst of gas to power this.

now my couple questions are-

if it doesn't have a large tank on it, (it could) so a large volume of air wont be building up for the shot, will this severely limit power? i was planning on just using my modified 1in sprinkler valve from my sniper that i made and just holding the exhaust until the shot leaves the barrel, will this work as i anticipate it too? or does it need a secondary tank from the propane tank to build up some pressure?

also im wondering how quickly, and efficiently does a sprinkler valve close and reset after the exhaust is closed? i've never tried this as my pneumatic sniper has always been a one shot deal, any help would be great

to be honest if you have the extra cash to be fancy you could just buy a shotgun mag and some shells. If you have a shotgun or know a friend who does shoot the shotgun rounds off and use the spent shells as the bb housing. Just drill out some of the metal backing but keep the lip and par t that attaches to the plastic and chop off the front that blew outward when they were shot. Doing all this would mean you would have a badass magazine, the shotgun rounds would go in and come out easy enough, and would look real. Only thing you would have to engineer is the magazine well and the action which are going to be hard enough but would work well with the deus-ex-machina design i would think

i hunt a lot so i can get these empties pretty easy, hmm and not a bad idea, but not many shotguns use a clip, and i'd have to be 18 to get ahold of one in the first place. and you're right, designing an ejection system would greatly add to the complexity...

Saiga 12 gauge 10 round mag =] only thing is $28 kinda sucks and they would probably charge shipping. you may take that info to a local gun store and see if they can't order you one. To get ahold of one just have your dad go with you and give him the money, or an older friend even. However, i suggest the dad cause that's legal lol.

Well i'm kind of in a similar boat in what i'm trying to design so i've thought of a few ideas. Crappy thing is is that i'm trying to make a magazine fed, bolt action blowgun but i want it to use both stun darts (would be easy for a magazine being that it's cylinder shaped) AND long/regular darts (crazy hard, a flexible cone with a 4 inch needle on it)
