The hammer could be hollow.With a removable backplug.

this way you could add lead bb's to it, possibly under springtension, to finetune the weight.

However, if the bb's are free to move they might act like a recoilless hammer.
The bb's arrive "late" and counter the bounce..

McMaster push button valve. LnL says it is easy to open, so my hammer doesn't have to be ridiculously solid or big.

It's not a totally balanced valve, but I can open it with my finger at 700psi

I'm not expecting it to be balanced. But if you can open it at 700 with your finger (how hard is it 1-10?) then my wimpy hammer can open it at 260.

Gun Freak, the trigger pull for my double/single action revolver is about 1-2 pounds, so its not too bad.

Gun freak, its honestly not that bad. Remember that you have a little bit of leverage to your advantage. Check your inbox, I have a joke that I can't post here that will describe how easy it is.

It's not leverage that's my advantage, its momentum. But yeah I think the hammer will be fine. I can always increase the mass of it by adding a couple washers.

Oh I thought you could take it apart, looks like the push button comes off and the hex part comes off but it's ok it's not that important. Thanks for being so helpful LnL.

It might have threads, but I think its thread locked in there and I don't wan to mess with it. No problem, I'd like to see an actual hammer mech working with the system because I never really got it how I wanted it
