I don't play airsoft but i figured this would be fun to build (if it were to work, i know the firing mech needs to be reworked)

If you don't see how it works or what I intend this device to do this series of events might help
1. pin is pulled via tripwire
2. piston travels downwards thus, pushing against the spigot and accelerating the "mine" into the air
3. the piston is caught and the air pressure begins to force the projectile out of the barrel (hopefully delayed until the vertex of the trajectory is reached by the detents)

My alternated trigger design is similar to a gate latch bolted to the bottom plate and a notch on the piston shaft.

That looks like a cool idea, the thing I'd be woried about is it falling over instead of firing...

Suggestion, move the barrels into the spring area so the piston won't open the ports until the piston is fully extended. Add vents so air in front of the piston does not eject the airsoft rounds while launching. Expect the airsoft rounds to eject at very low altitude. They accelerate much faster than the launcher.

I would expect airsoft rounds to eject about as soon as the piston opened the ports.

Due to the force on the trigger, you have a high probability you will tow the device along the ground instead of tripping it. Use a buckling tower trigger instead. Think of a stack of 2 pencils end to end holding up a balanced salad bowl. It takes little force to knock out the stack of pencils. Use something appropriate to replace the pencils for your trigger.

I pretty much know the trigger wont work effectivly so some redesigning is in order.

in order to solve the timing issue a burst disk at the begining of each barrel might work but it would be a pain to set up.

perhalps making very tight detents? or restricting the flow into each barrel in combo with detents....

I've drawn up a bouncing betty a while back. The valve was triggered by a 4ft cord that was attached to a base. No need to time the valves. The base was gonna work like the valve u drew. Someone really should make one. I'm already working on something. I know it would be fun to build, though.

Ok, well it depends on the acceleration of the piston and the chamber/body. Of you had to you/I could angle the barrels up by about 5 degrees to emulate the bouncing Betty. Anyways...

...It was just another idea tht I don't have the time for, sigh... I've already got 2 projects on the go, my ball valve cannon for fishing and my copper air cane which I just started. I'm also a full time student (1st year engineering) and work on the weekends...
