Goddamn, 8"... you lucky SOB
How do you find using the Cassegrain-type telescope? I've been looking at some 4" or 5" Maksutov-Cassegrain 'scopes and 6" or 8" Dobsonian's but I have to put off purchasing one until I go overseas as they're bloody expensive here, not many companies will ship them overseas and shipping would be ridiculously expensive anyhow.

I really like the Cassegrain scope for it's portability. It's much quicker/easier to set up than something like a traditional reflector. However, given that it's a sealed system of sorts, you have to treat it a bit more gently. Not a lot more, but you need to be aware of how it responds to temperature and the like.
Sadly, telling the ladies I've got 8" hasn't impressed them the way I thought it would.
