Where to find a golf ball barrel in CT?

Hi everyone! I'm from Connecticut, and I've been searching for a golf ball barrel for my piston valve launcher. If I'm not mistaken, it's 1.5 in. sdr-21 pipe. Well I can't find it anywhere in stores, and online it's relatively cheap, however for a peace as long as i need it (about 7 feet long or so), shipping costs would be through the roof. Does anyone know any hardware stores around that may have some?

Another option is 1.5 inch schedule 10 pipe. But if you don't like the shipping charges for the SDR-21, you're probably not going to like the cost of the pipe either.

schedule 10? I never know there was a such thing! I'll look into it, but I've heard the sdr-21 works the best. And price is sort of a big deal, so if it's too expensive, I'm really not that interested.

I've used both. Very few have simply due to cost of comparisons. My opinion? Sch 10 beats the hell out of SDR-21.... But - for example - the last barrel I purchased was stainless steel and ran about $90 by itself. It's not cheap.

Yeah, that's slightly (and by slightly, I mean VERY) out of my price range. Thanks for the input though! If I ever come across some for a reasonable price I might just have to buy it. Why a stainless steel barrel?

Because I could only find Sch 10 in aluminum or stainless, the rest of the gun was going to be steel, and I wanted to be able to weld it... Thus, stainless!

I wish I had the money for stuff like that. That's cool though. Does it come in PVC?

Try asking for class 200 1.5" pipe. All the local pipe shops quite frankly acted like I was a dumb a** when I asked for sdr-21, although it does say it on the pipe after I bought it, so just ask for class 200 before you go to check if they have it. Then bring a golf ball with you to just be sure it fits.

.02" - can't beat that.

If you have irrigation stores near you, they carry hundreds of feet of SDR-21. At least around me they do.

I was actually just looking online and found a great store. The only problem: It's only a couple hundred miles away :( I'll see if I can find one around here

Sure you can... With schedule 10. :)

Golf ball diameter = 1.68"

SDR-21 ID = 1.72" (yes, 0.02" on either side)

Sch 10 ID = 1.682" (yes, 0.001" on either side)

I have a first love bias to the SDR-21. You seal the one end with your hand and it'd take ~10 seconds for the ball to fall vertically 5'. The guys at the pipe store would give it to me for... free!

I guess you could vouch that the sch 10 works, but it seems a tight tolerance to expect out of pipe and a ball. And it the resistance it would incur wouldn't necessarily be bad.

I also heard that the sdr fits perfectly inside 2" sch. 40 so that's what my barrel is now, so I don't know if the schedule 10 would work this time.
