New Guy, want ideas for a pnematic tennis ball mortar

Cannons powered by pneumatic pressure (compressed gas) using a valve or other release.

Blitz, and Gun Freak,

I've played with GGDT a good bit now, and what you've suggested seems absolutely correct at higher chamber pressures.

For lower chamber pressures (75 PSI) it seems like a high chamber volume, and a shorter barrel would work better.

I'll keep running the numbers though.

Thanks,

Duane

Well, most of my parts arrived today, thanks to my friendly brown truck driver. :)

I'll try rounding up the other odds and ends, and try putting it together this week-end.

In the meantime, I'm still playing with GGDT.

Thanks,

Duane

Pictures will come. Be patient. Old men don't move fast. 8)

That sounds vaguely like a terrible euphemism :D

My truck driver's brown too. But telling him that sounds racist.

Such a feeling of glee. Almost euphoric. Can definitely feed poor spending habits. :)

I just love the idea of being able to see something online and have it magically materialize at my doorstep in a couple days :D

You'd almost think it was materialized out of thin air just for you. But then, it shouldn't take so long to arrive then. :)

Well, I've made a "little" progress. 8)

After playing with performance numbers from GGDT, my idea for a tennis ball mortar turned into a tennis ball cannon. Maybe next time. :)

Sorry about the crappy photo... I am not known for my photography skills.

I've still got to come up with a way to brace the muzzle end of the barrel to the chamber. It's way too long and floppy for my liking.

You got a few options. You could cut out a bracket and then zip tie the barrel and chamber together, for example. Or a large hose clamp. Or something. :)
