Anyone know what kind of pressure this stuff is likely to be good for? I see that there is aluminized steel 1.75" OD 17 gauge tubing available that would apparently have an ID suitable for a golf ball.

Should be fine. DR made pulse jets entirely from exhaust tubing without issue, you're going to be fine up to a few x micture or a few hundred psi.

Assuming mild steel and no structural flaws, a rough calculation would be a 46 MPa burst pressure and 13 MPa yield pressure.
Throw a hefty safety factor on there... anything up to 1000 psi shouldn't be a problem.

I will, however, point out that my maths says 1.75" OD - 17 gauge walls = 42.15 mm. Golf balls are supposed to be not less than 42.7mm. Unless the tolerances aren't great, it's probably about half a millimetre too small for golf balls.
