my paint became conductive?

Boom! The classic potato gun harnesses the combustion of flammable vapor.

I don't know how to explain this honestly, I had the chamber painted, had the bolts installed to create a spark gap. The spark gap formed flawlesssly before and after the paint dried. But a couple hours later, the spark stopped forming, I kept clicking and clicking and I noticed something wierd, I felt the shock as my hand got closer to the contacts. I clicked and I saw that a spark was made between the bolt and the layer of paint. I was confused so I held my finger above the chamber, far away from the contacts, and when I clicked, a spark formed between my finger and the chamber. What the hell just happened?
Just to show you guys what I'm saying

You have become ELECTROMAN!

The paint could have had some conductive elements in it...

Are you still using one wire from the sparker in that video?
