Hey guys, I have used potato cannons before, but I have a question on my second one I am building. I have the ABS all put together, but I used PVC glue instead of ABS. After pondering this for a bit I decided to look on the internet and see if I could find anything on using PVC glue on ABS. Well, I did and no one says it's a good idea. Immediatly I tried to tear the gun appart, but was only sucessfull in getting the barrel off. I tried hitting the reducer and the adapter with a crowbar(yeah..I was pretty desperate), I came to the conclusion that it might hold up. Just to be safe I put some screws through the reducer and the adapter so that they don't blow off(or so I hope). I can't see anything really bad happening, other than the ends blowing off and scaring the hell out of me. What do you guys think my chances are of blowing this thing to peices? Thanks for any input, I am going to do it anyways as I really have no choice now, I just want to know how bad I will or won't get it..

If you put 4 to 8 solid screws in it, plus the glue, it should hold just fine.
That is - if it's a combustion. Pneumatics may be less forgiving.

It better not be pneumatic, ABS isn't even close to being pressure rated.

It's combustion. I tried it out this weekend, and wow. Deffinetly bigger and better than my last gun.

Yeaahh..Little late on that one. I KNOW not to look down the chamber to see if it's still sparking if there is ether in there..Well I THOUGHT I let it air out enough..Apparently not. Luckily my cat-like reflexes saved me from some singed(sp?) hair.

Well it should work fine.
My first pneu. was made of abs and i used pvc glue too.
Which was a bad idea, but i was fine.
It didnt blow up either. so it should work fine in a combustion.

I've had this gun for 7 or 8 months now, and use it all the time. Never had a problem other than when we decided to shoot the "ram-rod" out of it..Then the endcap blew off and I think I might have even pooped a little. It works awesome, and now I am done my bigger combustion and it's workin pretty damn good too  .
