I found these on the internet a while ago. I was thinking of making one because it seemed so friggen cool. Anybody made one before?
I would like to use PVC because I have a pluthera of it but it would probably be too flimsy.
I guess I'll just sit there with a stick and carve away...

i used one of those before and its way cool. you can by the spears online or make your own out of bamboo. I made mine ( thats now broken) out of a hockey stick and curved it out using a router. It was very easy to make.

History, eh? Its the first friggen' paragraph...
"The atlatl (pronounced [ät.lät.ŭl] or more authentically with two syllables ['a.tɬatɬ]), or "spear thrower", is a tool that uses leverage to achieve greater velocity in spear-throwing, and includes a bearing surface which allows the user to temporarily store energy during the throw. It consists of a shaft with a cup, in which the butt of the spear rests. It is held near the end farthest from the cup, and the spear is thrown by the action of the upper arm and wrist. A well-made atlatl can readily achieve ranges of greater than 100 meters." ~WikiPedia [Article - Atlatl]

pretty much just a long shaft (stop the immaturity now) with a hook or cup the end. The spear rests on the rod and against the hook.
When you swing it, the spear goes flying like mad.
The cro-magnons supposedly used them and the aztecs also perforated a few spaniards with them.

Our native people have been using them for thousands of years and with practice they can throw a spear well over 100 meters and still have lethal force.

in the upcoming presidential election, there will be several candidates who will be running, one of whom is Hillary Clinton. Now WAIT A SECOND!!! I though there was some sort of rule that prevented someone from serving more than two terms in office. Vote Against Hillary: Presidential Elections 08
