Building a cannon, trying to get the most distance out of it. Projectile will be foam stress balls.
My thought was to have 2 tanks, one would be fired when trigger is pulled, and then somewhere along the barrel there would be a switch that the ball would hit and would fire a second valve to the barrel from the second tank.
Would there be any advantage in speed/distance with a system like this???? Would there need to be a check valve or way to shut the first valve to keep the pressure going into the barrel, not the first tank?

Welcome to the forum!
Are you thinking of an air powered version of the Vergeltungswaffe 3?

If so, I think it's an unnecessary complication.
Apart from the difficulty of triggering the second valve at the right time, if you want sustained pressure in the barrel you can simply use a larger primary air tank.
While this concept is appealing to boost the performance of powder burning projectile launchers, for a pneumatic device it really doesn't do anything that a bigger air reservoir won't do.
