As an arborist needing to get a pilot line over a specific tree limb I have many options but my current addiction is air cannons. When I saw a video online about a device sold that expressly made to eject a large volume of compressed air I new that was my ticket. What I really liked was the 9 liter steel chamber made safe with an over-pressure relief valve; glow in the dark pressure gauge; comfortable handles with a covered release button. The exhaust port is 1 1/2" npt female pipe threads that I modified to accept a female adapter so I could exchange many different size barrels; one 1 1/2" schedule 40 aluminum pipe for my lead shot throwbag; one 2 1/2" sch 40 pvc for tennis balls; one 44 mm id aluminum tube for golf balls; one 2 3/4" id aluminum tube for potatoes, sugar beets or ears of corn. So I attached a 12 ounce throwbag to my 200 foot long pilot string with a 16 ounce weight on the ground end. Pressure at 100 psi and when released the bag shot up the full 200 feet plus lifted the 16 ounce counterweight off the ground a good 20 feet. If that goes 200 feet plus maybe 250 then I need not increase the pressure. I really only need to get to 70 feet so at only 30 psi it works fine. Yes there are cheaper tire bead blasters on the market but this one is loaded with better features that I adore.

I just discovered these things and soon after this post. I can't more people don't talk about this here. Some of these devices are authentic, barrel-sealing piston valve launchers. All you have to do is screw on a barrel. They are steel, high volume, well made, aesthetically pleasing, and cost effective. Some have a UHMW-looking piston at the front end with o-ring seals and radial slots for chamber vents. That's a piston pneumatic potato cannon with no flow restriction and no compromises. Its amazing.
