Gort's Mauler; POWER TEST VIDEOS 11/20

So here it is. I finally have a good model of the Mauler valve and I hooked it up to a 3'x4" chamber and a 5' golf ball barrel.

This thing is fucking loud as all hell and the kick-back is amazing. If the barrel is taken off and the gun is pointed straight down it will shoot itself about a foot up. And remember that the valve is about 3 feet away from the ground. (I'll get video of that later.)

I will post some more pictures of the valve itself later but in the meantime here are videos.

The valve is a 2" porting barrel-sealer (Yes John, it's a barrel-sealer ) that can be piloted through a 1/4" ball valve and male quick-disconnect. The whole thing is housed in a 2.5" tee and doesn't extend further. 12 screws hold the back cap in and allow piston service. For much much better performance I will be making the hollow piston unscrewable and install a check valve in it so the equalization holes will not affect pilot performance. In theory, one should be able to pilot this valve through a 1/16" hole.

It actually hit the very very top of the board, chipped it off, flew upwards, and took out a branch.

I have one question though. I see lots of valves that use screws to be able to access the piston, but how do you get it to seal? Is it seated on an o-ring?

There is an o-ring around the back plug that seals against the inside of the tee.

The first video is just longer than the others so it takes longer to load.

Yeah, barrel sealers are my favorite valve type. They are so powerful and can be anywhere from easy as hell to hard as hell to make. These definately lean to the hard as hell side. It took quite a few months and a number of dollars I'd rather not know to perfect the design. I've really got it down to a science now and I hope many people will enjoy Mauler valves.

I will be able to post some more pictures of the valve tomorrow. I don't have any on hand of the updated design. I'm reluctant to post pictures of the inside for the same reason Joel is about the Supah valve. Nobody really likes to show how their product really works. But maybe I will anyway. Who knows, maybe it will inspire more sales...

Lol I can think of more worshipable people than some guy from a potato cannon forum. Lol anyways I like the look of the valve, If you gut a 1 inch burst disk exaust it would improve perfomance a greater deal. All in all, loverly job there, Gort!

but it still could trigger randomly, well not randomly but its hard to get an exact pressure rating for the material you use and you cant time the exact time you want it to fire.and its more of a hassle and you cant fill up through it as with a quick connect you can use it to fire and ill up.

I just have to say that is a clean looking valve. I can't see the vids at the moment cause my mac is picky. But by the looks of the homework you have done it probably kicks pretty good. Nice work gort.
