Try a 6" ball valve.

He's just joking. A good pilot valve depends upon your pilot volume. A QEV would probably be the best but those are usually pretty expensive. In most circumstances a small ball valve will work for a pilot, but if you want to get a little more fancy you can pilot through a sprinkler valve, modded or electrical.

He actually took me seriously. I probably shouldn't do that to new people, but i couldn't resist. Plus, a 6" ball valve would work fine. The bigger the better.

I think I've seen modded sprinkler valves used as pilots :D That's a bit extreme if you ask me, but, sure, it all depends on the pilot volume and type of main valve. A decent solenoid, modded or not, or QEV should do the trick.

Brain poop: we should start using burst disks as pilot valves. Beat that! :D

someone should make a triggerable burst disk... like a disk that u can pressurize really high without it breaking then maybe a moveable arm with a arrow head on the end so that you could break it..

People have done that with ammo. Just get a dowel, pound a nail through, sharpen in, drop it down the barrel, and it pops the disc. Looks like a mortar when it shoots.

you could also make a second piston valve, and triger that with whatever. A sprinkler valve is a good pilot valve to.
