Balistic gel.

Well I made some balistic style gel to shoot into and it was great fun.All i did was use cooking gelatine and mixed it at a ratio of 1:9 gelatine to water.

The small black balls are shot gun pellets out of a 6" piece of 15mm pipe shot form the Thumper pneuamtic cannon and the marbles were shot at 50 and 100 PSI the 100 PIS went straigth through the gel and out the other side.

Noice. Ive made a couple of batches over the past few days. Seems like the 1:9 - 1:10 ratio is the best ratio which I have found out. I tried 1:20, and overnight in the freezer it was about the consistency of thick motor oil. With the 1:10 ratio I was shooting threw 2" slabs of it with one pump of my BB gun and a pellet as the ammo. Did find a couple of BB's laying around and those wont penertrate the whole entire peice. Still cool no doubt.

I havent tried the 1:10 ratio but ti would save a little gel in the long run.I guess you could use that 1:20 mixture if you boiled some of the water off.But you can probably aford to just buy more.

And yes this stuff is cool,definitly going to be used on all my small bore cannons.

Actualy I used your valve to shoot the shot gun pellets and man do alot of them bounce back,got a few in my eyes but no damage.

No mythbusters ballistics gel is more complicated and requires chemicals that arent usually household.

And this stuff doesnt sound too accurate if pimp is a pellet through two inches of it with one pump. Still sounds like alotta fun to mess around with though. Enough that im gunna buy some cooking gelatine next chance i get

its supposed to have a 590fps bb gun go in like 3 and a half inches or something

i'm going to make a chlorine tablet bucket (about 10-15 gallons) of this stuff, then shoot it with a slug, and a potato to see what happens. I will post videos. I think I can get the potato to penetrate.

BLB-What do you mean by calibrated?

Pyro-Its not the same as reall balistic gel it has alot of different addetives(sp) to make it the density of human flesh.

abcdefg-actualy i shot a huge chunk out of my Mr.Wilson piston gun and it just was blown into little pieces in the barrel as it doesnt slide very well so it was ripped apart by the barrel walls.

Benny-Nah not the same,well it might be but i am assuming it is not.
