let me state that no i have never built a cannon yet but hope to but i have seen alot of

"oh it can shoot through a piece of ply wood so easy i 's like it's not there"

a tip for any one who wants to know exatly how powerfull theyre baby is is to stack 1/4 in plywood with about a 1/4 - 1/2 inch space about 10 times i've seen an air rifle shoout throug 3 3/4 inch bords and 11 1/2 inch ones so an air cannon could easaly do this test

another one is stacking a bunch of foam in a block which can work quite well

I have two of those high powered air rifles one is a Gamo 1000 ft per sec. and a Chinese thing 900 ft per sec. neither one of them would go through all the boards you mentioned they don't always make it through half in. plywood. Maybe I've just got some darn good plywood are my guns which are nearly new aren't that good. Lately th ough with my air cannon I shot three large hole in an old fairly thick folding metal chair and through the bottom of an 8" sauce pan, the air guns just bounce off. The destructive ammo I used were large nuts pushed by wooden dowels , I also shot through the old satellite dish with one of those large marbles (shooter) again ,the air gun and soft lead just bounced off and didn't make much of a dent. The airgun will however shoot clean through a just emptied half gal. paint can.

Penetration of my ~750 feet/sec .177 cal pellet rifle is about 3/16" into a pine board. As one would expect, as it has about 1/2 the muzzle energy of your 1000 feet/sec.

But yeah, If he's refering to a comercial .177 cal air rifle, his numbers are bull.
