Random things to do with steel wool that I have done:
Accidentally light it on fire on my kitchen table with my camera stun gun. It melted the table cloth. I wanted to see if it would work as wire. I should have remembered that even a 6 volt battery makes it spark and stuff. I am dumb.
Create hydrogen! More fun, all you need is the super fine steel wool and some hydrogen peroxide. You get the same results as Drano and aluminum foil, except it's more pure.
When it's on fire on your kitchen table, grab it and throw it outside. When it's outside, stomp on it. It will cause sparks to shoot up and it will not go out. After you stomp on it, grab it with your bare and and burn yourself. Then yell and throw it, causing sparks to shoot off all over. You can also hold it and spin your arm in circles really fast to get sparks up to 20 feet away. Try not to light your neighbor's lawn on fire (it was an accident).

Yeah I learned it burns the hard way. When I was younger we were making "crazy circuts" in science, so I decided it needed steel wool. We turned it on, and it started burning. Good stuff.

Man, I've tried so many different ways to get that friggin stuff to burn, never thought of electricity though. BTW rust powder burns way hotter, I'm pretty shure that you can melt through stuff with it.

Devices such as...?

I too make electronic ignitors for lighting "devices". In all actuallity, they can work for detonators, salutes, rockets, starmines, or anything that is ignited by a fuse ordinarily. All you have to change is what you coat it with, or even if you have to coat it.
I have used steel wool to make rust powder. I was going to make thermite, but never got around to powdering aluminum.
I used electrolysis, which I guess made some iron hydroxide also, but whatever.

I remember when i was little i tried to fix a lamp (my parents weren't supervising) and i replaced the plug with two wads of steel wool wrapped in electrical tape, with each wad connected to one of the wires to the lamp and formed into a plug. needliss to say when i plugged it in it exploded, burn't the brand new wood floor, tripped the circuit braker, ruined the wall outlet, and got me smacked by my dads belt.
And yeah, it does work good for ignitoing certain "devices", such as a 200 gram flash powder charge which obliteraed a 55 gallen drum. (couldn't hear for 30 mintues lol)

Umm stupid things i have not done. Blow a hole in the ground in the yard with old hair spray cans, throw 3pounds of welted candle wax in the fire place lits up the fire quick, lit my hand on fire for 6 seconds using spray on deoderant and petrolinom jelly. To name a few I have not done.

I found out because I had really fine steel woll I was scrubbing something with, dropped it in my pocket then went to replace the 9v batteries in a potato gun sprinkler valve control box. I dropped the mostly dead 9v into my pocket, and, well...

I did not get burned. My reflexes were good enough to rip it out off my pocket and get rid of it.
