If its thick its sch 40?
Maybe its sdr 21? Or sch 80?
Maybe your plumber is a bit thick headed.
Not all part are pressure rated. Just because abs cell core is sch 40 doesnt mean it is pressure rated.

Bore is now 1", and piston is 2" with no leaks anywhere. It's all sch 40. Pimp or blb discribed short socket depth is the problem with bell reducers, pilot chamber is small enough, probly 2/3 sq. inch's. I'm thinking that it's not venting fast enough, and my piston is doulble o-ringed.

Got it working by unscrewing the blow gun off the fitting, i just dented my welder with this super ball finaly got to shoot/test it, my poor welder! Now to get the chassis finished. All these shots are at 30psi and less, heres a direct hit on a Honda parts box. The ball bounced around inside the box a few times, not many though, cardboard asorbed most of the impacts.

Cool!Got it working,its a good feeling when it fired for the first time.Is your cannon really loud and have you taken it to 110psi yet?Maybe you should officialy post this gun and have a full write up on it.

All the noise came from the blow gun hitting the floor when it blew off the fitting, the wooden piston makes no noise at all. I was suprized how quite it is. Maby i started a new era in piston building. I've had it up to 50 psi so far, i want to wait for the sprinkler valve to come before any high presure shots, the blow gun comes off the fitting hard as hell, even at 30 psi. When all is said and done, i'll do the write up with pics for the story board. Yea it felt great when it fired for the first time! My poor welder. Who cares about the super ball, i got 400 of them for 20 dollars off ebay.

Nice job it looks great. And about that guy at home depot, all the people there think that if its as thick as sch 40 then it won't blow but they actually don't have any experience using it in pressure applications. I think you should be fine but I wouldn't take it up too high and maybe remote fire it. But really nice job it looks great.

Working on the chasis now, got the rear wheel holder made and just ordered the front wheels, should have them in a week or so, then i can get a few more 2X4 econo's/2nd's and finish building the chasis. After i get it built, i get to take it back apart and paint it. When i get it completely finished i'll write it up and post in pneumatic cannon showcase.

What size bit did you use to make the cut outs? and you glued two together right?

I used the 2 1/2" hole saw in the pics, not a drill bit. The center bolt holding the seal to the top of the piston also holds the 2 pieces of 2X4 together + i glued them and JB welded the center bolt in, to stop air leaking out the barrel. Very simple to build.
