Long story short... went shooting some guns. Everything was fine till I shot a .41 magnium. Left ear started ringing, so I stopped shooting. Stopped ringing a few hours later.

No, did not have ear protection .

Now almost 24 hours later, my left ear still feels weird. Everything sounds as if I have water in that ear, but nothing will come out.

Am I screwed or will this go away in a few days?
Yes, I am the guy that owns & operates SpudFiles (along with our extremely helpful moderators).

It may or may not be there forever. Stuff like guns can mess up your ears really bad. My hunters safety teacher lost most of his hear when he worked at the gun range and didnt wear ear protection. I hope it gets better but if it doesnt go to the doctor.

if he worked at a range without ear protection he would be exposed to the loud sounds constantly and not just a shot form a .41 magnium, most likely it will go away in a few days but it is possible that it can do dammage, and if it doesnt go away i would just take ProfessorAmadeus's advise and go to the doctor, but chances are it wont do any serious damage from a single shot

PCGUY,
Anytime your ears ring after you shoot, you did very slight hearing damage. 95% chance it's not permanent and will go away within a few days. However, your hearing will never be exactly the same.

When I shoot anything bigger than a .22 I use foam ear plugs and then those big headphones-type hearing protectors over those. I <3 my ears and would like them to still work when I'm 60.

Having said that, the .41 mag is one of my alltime favorite guns. Was it yours?

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

Water sounds in the ear is/are symtems of a inner ear infection. If it starts to hurt/ach you will need a doctor. You will know in a day or two.

Actualy I know this very feeling happend to me about 3 days ago,was doing shooting with a 243 rifle or is that .243?

The feeling and noise you hear(or lack there of)Should pass soon. There is going to be some permanent damage to your hearing but it will mainly be to higher pitch noises or so my father said.

My hearing was better after about 2 days so dont sweet it.Although if it does continue see a health care profesional.
