That was supposed to read: NFL players are stronger, faster, and bigger then anyone in the rugby leagues.

On statistics you can compare, it clearly shows that American NFL players are 'tougher'. There benches, as well as all forms of weightlifting are greater then that of rugby players. NFL players weigh more on average. Not to mention there faster.

Its quite simple as to why there tougher. NFL players get paid a lot more, so it attracts better players. At stakes are millions of $, so you think there going to keep them padded? Padding the players allows them to improve before getting injured, as well as giving so much energy to collisions. Ill battle this out till the end!

well, i ran junior high last year, and had a broken leg this year, so i couldn't run at all. 11:30 is very good for 2 miles, but there have been faster times.

and what the hell is up with all putting down on cross-country people? i am a member of one of the largest teams in the state and we aren't all "tall, lanky" guys. i am built to play football(american), and everyone wants me to, but i cant stand that sport! i dont want to start an argument, but it is so stupid!!! why would you run around on a field getting attacked by huge guys? there is no reason for that sport to exist, and also, pro athletes in sports such as football or baseball are a joke! they get paid more than all the salaries of the teachers in my high-school, COMBINED! just goes to show how much america values education!

What?! Why isn't Marching Band listed? Come on, Marching Band is just as rigorous as any other sport out there, it doesn't deserve to be shoved under "Other!" ><

NERDS!! Just kinding. As said earlier you cant compare players on the NFL and in rugby because they are 2 differrent sports. IF rugby players played NFL players in foot ball then the NFL players would win. If the NFL players played the rugby players in rugby then the rugby players would win. You just acant compare the 2.

11:30 is pretty good for a rookie. My freshman year I ran the 3200m(2-mile) in 11:21. Speaking of band, I used to be in the marching band and it is insanely crazy. Spend all summer in the blazing sun hold either a black instrument or a piece of metal and burn your hands off, then come fall you do morning practice again holding a big piece of metal until your band teacher FORCES you to play freeze tag because it has become impossible to continue playing your instrument 'cause you're so cold. Then to top it off you have to jazz run on fast songs, wearing your self out and at the same time blowing out the precious little air you have left in order to keep running. Marching band would have to be my #2 for the hardest sport ever.

P.S. pimpman, us cross country runners may be skinny little twigs that wiegh a buck twenty on the off season after eating 2 thanksgiving dinners and drinking a gallon of apple cider which also happens to be 40 lbs under our suggested ideal weights but we are still fit! I'll bet you'll never see a football/rugy/any other sport(save xc skiing) that you'll have athletes with a heart rate of 40 bpm or less.

P.S.S. Our football team may suck but who comes to football games to watch the game? It's all about the marching/pep band!

P.S.S.S. Us XC runners not only can go far but fast too. We hit all ends of the spectrum from running 15-16 minutes for three miles to running 50-60 second 400m dashes(just to give some of my rough time estimates)

How are they faster? Ive seen many NFL games and 3/4 of the team is over-f*cking-weight, Joe Rockocoko(sp?) is bloody fast and big he could get past any NFL defence.

Lets just drop it ok without NFL players pads, helmets, cups and what not theyre not as big or tough and some pro rugby players do get paid millions just for playing for other clubs not necassarily other countries.

Yea well I hate all of you except flying_salt. Soccer rules. It has a lot of everything. Endurance, strength, speed, finesse. I could hold my own in weightlifting against most of the football players at my high school, I could outlast all of the long distance runners, I never matched up with anyone who could out sprint me, and few football players could compare with any soccer player in finesse. All of those other sports take one or two things. Soccer requires extraordinary amounts of almost everything. Granted a lot of soccer players aren't terribly strong, but I know a lot who are. I don't know how anyone can bash soccer with as much skill as it takes. Someone said something about running 5 miles a day for long-distance, that was our teams warm-up running. Soccer rules. And so does Man U.

I must agree with paaiyan on one thing, 5 miles is weak sauce. I'd still like to see you even try to out-distance an XC runner(and not the dumb rookies but I'm talking top varsity runners). Soccer though hits #3 on my hardest sport list. My top five would have to be like this......
#1 Cross Country
#2 Marching Band(may sound funny but you have to try it to know)
#3 Soccer
#4 Water Polo
#5 Wrestling

My top five lazy sports would have to be.....(I have a feeling this is going to offend people)

#1 Baseball
#2 Tennis
#3 Basketball
#4 Track(I speak of the field events and sprinters. Distance is still tuff)
#5 Football

I would have to probably tie cross-country and soccer for first. Then I could take band coming in behind. I understand that there is quite a lot of strenuous activity in marching. I have a very good friend who plays tuba in marching band and soccer as well. But I have to put soccer before it as there is so much more physical prowess necessary. Cross-country because it really requires a lot of skill, one must know how to find a pace and all that. But I can have marching band high on the list. Not football though.

As for the laziest. And I don't care who I offend.

1. Baseball
2. Basketball
3. Track (field and sprint)
4. Football
And coming in at number 5 is really an honorable mention because it's not really a sport. Golf.

Now that I think about it, probably the hardest sport ever(although i don't know much about it) is cross country skiing. Those guys are tuff. Skiing farther than a marathon uphill, 10,000 feet above sea level where there is appr. no air, and what little air they do get is about 10 below freezing. Those guys truly are tuff.

Come to think of it, I'll have to agree with you there. that takes all kinds of endurance and strength. That'll top my list now.
