My first coaxial has been sitting in my garage unused for some time now because I have never been able to succesfully fire it. I know this is because I have not had a big enough port, and I was wondering if a 1" ball valve would be enough to port it.

barrel is 2"
chamber is 4" by about 3'
the two previous ports were a blowgun and a 1/4" ball valve (I had very limited knowledge at the time and my funding[dad] said that a ball valve was overkill)
the piston is less than a quarter pound, just a plastic disk.
