how powerful?

sprinkler gun, but thats >20, a ball valve gun, but that sucks. burst disk cannon, pretty cheap.

for small amount of time i would go for a cannon like this http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6018&. however what i would do is make EVERYTHING threaded so you don't have to glue anything. that would be 2 (or 1) threaded union, a threaded fixed length barrel, and a threaded fixed length chamber with a threaded endcap.

if you want to do a triggered burst disk like mine, just use a threaded +, 2 small threaded connectors (for the unions) and 2 threaded plugs
There are rules, and then there are hundred dollar bills.

Try http://www.markfh11q.net/basicombustion.html . I haven't even finished the site yet so don't try and look around too much. This tutorial is also on these forums. Don't know exactly about the price but I believe you could build it for under 20$.

here is a cheap design. get about 5 feet of 2 inch pvc, a 2 inch ball valve and a 2 inch end cap. this will be about $13 to build and you will get about 200 yards out of it . cut the 5 foot pvc into two peices. one about 2 feet (for the chamber) and the other 3 foot peice as a barrel. glue the two together with the ball valve between the two. glue a fill valve (just cut one off a bike tire) to the end cap ( you obviously need to drill a hole first). So from front to back here are the parts. barrel (three foot), ball valve, 2 foot pvc (chamber), end cap, fill valve. this can also be used as a basic combustion, just leave the valve open.

note- if turned into a combustion it can no longer be used as a pneumatic.
also, be suree to use pvc glue and primer and let it dry for at least 12 hours.

Make a small porting piston valve, say 1". That way it will have power and be cheap. Or go with a 3/4" porting and you can shoot paintballs too. If you don't understand pistons here is a link.
