Boom! The classic potato gun harnesses the combustion of flammable vapor.

The gaps should be no more than a quarter inch apart.

Been thanked: 3 times

You could easily have a bigger gap, Just fiddle around with the electrodes until you get the best spark.1/4" may be the perfect gap or it could be 3/8" just fiddle around with it.

Why I can't really express to you any backed numerical figures, I would strive for shorter total arc length, and multiple ignition points. As a larger total arc gap will start to hack on the life of your stungun. Id say using multiple arc gaps, strive for a 1/4" total arc length. Although if at all possible I would suggest smaller diameter bolts for the use in creating the arc gap. As a smaller diameter bolt would provide the greater ability to work under the small tolerance conditions.

Just for future reference, please don't post your topic title in ALL CAPS. Generally these blatant attempts at attention, and disregard for others, earn my disrespect. Going against my better judgment, I both assisted you, and edit your title out of its ALL CAP state. Please honor both the other members of this forums, as well as the rules.

I agree with pimpmann22 on the smallest gap possible and multiple points.
If you are just wanting one ignition point, anything shorter than the set gap on the stun gun will work.

Yeah a bunch of smalls gaps is good. I once got a bbq sparker to clear 6 gaps, but I didn't use it in a cannon (too flimsy)

i'm sorry if my using of caps has offended anyone .it was not a blatant attempt at drawing attention to my post..caps are sometimes used as a way of expressing something...if i used them in my subject that was my mistake..but the lashing i just received from pimpman lets me know that this isn't a friendly forum...i will not post or return..also if you are a mod..maybe you should edit out the posts that are concerning highly dangerous practices with using spud guns before someone gets killed.and not waste your time reprimanding someone as harshly as you did me..i had referred 3 friends to this forum which i will let let know of this . :!:

For the love of God, 'lashing'?! *Pfft!*

I don't know how you came under this belief that I do not moderate issues that could alters ones state of health, because I do. Everything from plinking kangaroos in Australia, to using high explosives for a propellant. [Although shooting a kangaroo, doesn't generally effect the shooter, its activity should not be endorsed at the expense of the creatures life.]

Why can I not operate under the assumption you may have posted in ALL CAPS at a attempt at attention? As such is against the rules, and what not a better way to gain attention, then ALL CAPS? I also protected my assumption by saying 'generally' such is attempt at attention, not asserting you were, just that had yet to be supporting evidence in the other conclusion.

It seems as if your blowing this up to something its not. Why couldn't you just take my advice, and for futures sake not post in ALL CAPS? Just a thought.

Isn't that what I did?

Or are you proposing I phrase such in urban slang of web based forums? Hows this?

As you see I have yet to to refine my net slang, but you catch the drift. Understand I don't have a axe to grind, just telling you not to post in ALL CAPS.
