Scuba tank presure resavor

The company I work for has recently come into ownership of several decommissioned high pressure tanks, they weigh a tone but I was wondering about using them for super high pressure spud guns. Since they are no longer up to speck they can not be legally filled to their rated 4500 psi but they can still safely hold 200+ psi. Any recommendations about A) how to pressurize this tank B) how to dump the air out of the tank fast enough at around 200-300 psi to make an effective spud gun. Any designee Input would be appreciated.

or c) get a rated tank so it can be filled at a scuba shop.

lol yer why carry something so heavy for 200psi, if you buy a rated one you can get it filled to its full and have much more fun/shots/power depending on what you make it from

If you don't go the hybrid route (be warned it is dangerous and difficult sometimes) trying use a burst disk or make a piston valve to release that pressure fast.

You could probably get that tank hydrotested for a small fee, then it would be legal to use again.

Clean it up first so it looks nicer to the guy testing it - use some steel wool or whatever to get off any rust specs, polish it up a bit, you know?

Yeah, get a pressure rated one and make yourself one of the greatest airsoft strafers made on these fourms....... portable and able to fire for 40 minutes!

Thick metal like that is just BEGGING to become a hybrid. Otherwise, like they said try to get it hydro'd so you can fully charge it. I wouldn't go with a strafer though, I would just use it to quick-charge a moderately sized pneumatic.

Assuming it's 12 L, PV = 42000ish, or 420 L at 100 psi, or roughly 40 shots with a 4"x48" chamber..... I don't know the going rates on filling scuba tanks, but I would assume 40 firings is a good deal.

After I sell some of my stuff and get some money ill invest in a co2 regulator and a 2.5, 5 and eventually 10 or 20 lb co2 tanks. Then make a marble rifle ( will have a rifled barrel ) and bbmg. They'll work at 300+ psi, but ill try to find a higher psi regulator.

How about a golf ball machine gun? THAT would kick some A**. A scuba tank could get through a whole clip too. use one of gorts bolt-action golf ball barrels hooked up to a pneumatic cylinder, and a QEV+saftey pop valve actuated Piston. muahahaha
