does your fuel line run through you "gun" apparatus or is it threaded right into the iron pipe? If it is attached directly to the pipe wont fuel pool in the grip?.......o wait i does your line run directly into the check vavle?

It is attached directly to the pipe, but i seald the pipe nipple "grip" with stick expoy, so its basically a straight line from the hose to the valve.

use it to start bonfires, or fireworks.

make a video. go out and buy a cheap birthday cake form your local grocery store, then "light the candles".

I like this.

I want to make one with a 2 inch diameter nozzle, and 10 feet of 6 inch gas chamber.

big flames! *insane laugh*

Or even Better, Use a gas tanker truck with compressed butane onboard and and nozzle one of those fire hose things. I'm to lazy to describe, but its like a cone ( small end where flames come out ) and then an on and off lever.

What would be a safe gas to use, other than CO2. I need it to be somewhat available easy, and to not need a retardedly expensive regulator. Id like to be able to buy it all locally.

I'm thinking propane or butane, but I don't know how I would go about hooking that up.

Edit:
In this diagram, could you take a check valve and attach a thin rod to the inside of a check valve to make the "valve plug?"

Mopherman,
The pilot flame is just a bent piece of 1/4 copper tubing connected to flow valve, and then to a propane bottle on the pack with some tubeing.

i don't really get ur question. if u want to know what fuel to usei sugest lighter fluid or just alot of wd40.

if u want to know what to use to pressurize your thrower just air, you don't eally need co2, just compressed air works fine.

Re-read the question.

No, compressed air does not work just fine. Maybe if I wanted to die, then I would strap a bomb (that's what it'd be) to my back.

And as for the fuel, I know what to use, Denaturated Alcohol.

Edit: Would Denaturated Alcohol eat through PVC tanks? I'm pretty sure Gasoline would. That's why I dont want to use it. What do you use Killjoy?

okay don't give an attitude cuz it is only a bomb if YOU screw up and don't make it right, hell the military uses propane somtimes as the compressed gass to push the fuel.

obviously you shouldn't make one yet cuz you don't fully understand them. let me help you, the compressed air is safe becuase the flame cannot go back into the chamber becuase it the nozzel is too small for it to shoot back in and the fuel to air ratio is way too off to do that. under normal circumstances that shouldn't ever happen. so don't be a smart @$$. :D

EDIT: P.S.- go to www.howstuffworks.com and put in flamethrower.

I wasn't trying to give off a bad attitude, but you said to use compressed air, not propane. Propane would be safe, because there wouldnt be any oxygen in the system to cause an explosion.

It wouldn't matter how small the nozzle was, a flame could still trace up it. However if I used regular air, it would actually have a chance to trace back and explode, even if it is a poor combustion. Id rather have a 0% chance of something on my back exploding, than a 10% chance.

I really didn't mean to offend you whatso ever, sorry.

Edit: I've seen that link, I even posted it in my original post.
