I sorta kinda get how to use one, but I do not get the whole air ionizer thingy. could someone explain this.

How do I hook this up for double ignition.

Have you read the Wiki article yet?

By air ionizer, you're referring to the flash bulb, right? In order to ignite the flashbulb, two currents are used. Initially, a small current is put across the bulb and this serves as a pathway for the larger current to "jump". The flash you see is the larger current "jumping" from one side of the bulb to the other.

For double ignition wire the spark strips in series like this: [+]----> <-----> <-------[-].

Does this answer your questions?

I know how to wire the dual ignition, but what about the ionizer thingy, where do I put that for dual ignition?

<strike>You don't. It's not used in this type of ignition.</strike>

Edit: I stand corrected.

You split the 3rd electrode so you have three electrodes at each gap:

Code: Select all

                        [trigger]
                    _____|_____
                   | |
[+]————> <—————> <————[-]

Or you could use one of the other setups described on the wiki page, one that doesn't require the trigger electrode. Anyway, I'm not sure this kind of ignition has enough voltage to be used in a dual spark design, not without a step-up transformer anyway.

So the third basically just triggers it.

I think I get it now.

I play around with it a little.

Thank you all very much.
