barrel sealing piston gun.Paintballs!

Well I decided to stop messing with sprinklers and venture into the piston valve world.
I still need a end plug to finish and maybe a spring if mine is too short.
The barrel is 3/4 sch 80.
Perfect for paintballs.
The chamber had a crack so I had to cut it and install a coupler.

That is looking pretty good. Is that a 2" chamber reduced down to a 3/4" barrel? Interesting...

This looks more like a diaphragm valve than a piston valve. The barrel portion of the sealing face extends past the center of the tee and past the beginning of the other leg of the tee, which I generally relate to a diaphragm valve.

I would have to agree with rmich, this does seem more of a diaphragm valve to me considering the placement of the barrel in the tee as well as the 'piston' you are using. Nevertheless, excellent job and I'm sure you will be pleased. Homemade diaphragms are a great way to transition into full blown piston valves with o-rings and such 8)

Oh I thought diaphragms had to be floppy lol.
Ok so I guess it isn't a piston.
Oh well. Maybe my next one will be a full on piston valve.
I used 2" for the chamber because it was available. And it can't really hurt performance.

nah really good job man, so what pressures u running it at? ive had mine at 260psi and its great i might take it over 300 one day.

i thought phrams had to be floppy as well, lol well ya learn every day

Thats pretty clean priming and cementing. Unless you showed the "good side".

The gun works(most of the time) with lots of power! When I shoot it it leaves vapor cloud 3ft long and 2 ft wide!

It doesn't seal completely and leaks out the barrel slightly but It doesn't reall matter as I usually shoot right after filling.

If the rubber (neoprene?) is attached to the white disc (pvc?) then this is a piston gun, not a diaphragm gun, albeit a very short piston... A true diaphragm would be permanently sealed at its outer circumference and would rely on a concave pressure dome to seal the barrel... An exception to this would be a flap diaphragm which is hinged at an anchor point...

Regardless of what people choose to call it, you have a very sleek gun there... Nice job...

And the rubber is pond liner, i have over hundred pounds of the stuff/ and I couldn't find neoprene rubber at my local lowes.
