I'm heaps better off then when I started; I'm gonna use a smaller barrel now, and put a little stopper/wedge in it to hold the marble in there (as suggested by From_Hamsterdam), but I just don't know what to make the stopper out of, as I don't really have any suitable foam, and I've got some rubber, but it's a bit dense, and probably will hold the marble a little too well! :?

you could try a few layers of masking tape. or glue down a small piece of towel.

Another option you may want to think about, is drilling a small hole at tha back of your barrel and putting a winged screw in, so that when u put the marble in, u can give the screw a quarter turn or so and the marble wont move on ya.

or GENTLY heat up a very small section of the barrel and give it a nip with some pliers so it is a tiny bit tighter and if you drop the marble in it should get wedged and you should be able to aim down aswell. dunno just had a thought.
