I will soon be posting a mammoth cannon. this cannon will be so massive that for the air chamber it will use over 16 feet of sch40 2.5 inch pipe. However the piston valve will be very small at 1.5 inches, also the barral will be 7 feet of 1.5 inches. I will shoot striped golf balls from up to 150 psi. i have caculate that at that pressure it will probably hurl it 3 miles. Look around for the post to be up in a month or to and if u have any douts or sugustions or jut want to mock me then plz reply.

Don you live in the countryside? I hope your garden is big cos that thing is gonna need a lot of storage space at 23 feet  ! I guess your gonna build a stand for it! Good luck :D .

How about you post this topic once you construct the cannon?

"3 miles"
Ok, let me geuss: you did the old "ok, so we have a force caused by the air of 150*1.5^2*.75 lbs, and a barrel that long... so plugging it into that handy formula we learnt in physics... that much muzzle velocity... and handy physics formula again... that much distance.

Sorry, but that doesn't work very well (ignores external air resistance, viscosity of air, flow choking...) . Try downloading the GGDT (gas gun desing tool).

So far I have gotten tennis balls, some filled with water for extra weight ,to go over a tree 900. away and in to a pasture with keep out signs ,so I haven't retrieved all of them ,but I think some of them may have made a quarter mile ,this is with a comustion cannon. I'm sure golf balls will go substantially further than tennis balls, but I wouldn't bet on 3 miles,if you get 1 mile I want to build one just like it.

I agree, I could have built a cannon twice as big as the one you stated in 11 months. Some one bit off more than they could chew. Don't post until you have actually made the cannon, thats what the showcase is for.

Well thanks for being a total idiot and kicking up a topic that's been dead for almost a year.

Don't do it again.

Because anyone that saw this thread already kinda noticed that and you probably just came across it and decided to make fun of them. Oh and and Triggahappy I'd like to see the plans for this 46' cannon you can build.
