how hard should sealing neoprene be?

Cannons powered by pneumatic pressure (compressed gas) using a valve or other release.

somehwere between the hardness of a rock and a pillow.

more spesificly, about as hard as an innertube, maybe slightly harder for larger barrels.

Yes, I believe that will work. I generally hear 60A, and 70A as the proper hardness.

70A is great... I use the ultra pure version of neoprene (found on mcmaster). Its expensive, but I have not had a single sealing problem with it (there was one issue, but it was the washer that caused it).
