Easy to use muzzle energy calculator can be found here, though I prefer to use this one as it plots a graph of muzzle energy for the whole velocity range and gives ft/lbs to 2 decimal places.

To see how muzzle energy compares with firearm ballistics, a detailed range of popular cartridge statistics (velocity, weight, muzzle energy etc) can be found here

It's only a matter of time, you should fit at least a neoprene disk.

Yup :). ill need to get you down more often. once we finish it that is.

the empty caulk tubes are light though. We may need to fill them with something.

fill the first 1/4th of the tube with concrete and you have a perfect drag-stabilised armor piercing shot :)

1/4 full are supposed to be pretty accurate. well, as accurate as you can get out of a high velosity cardboard tube. how about we weight them with sand?
edit: jack beat me to it

Sand mixed with some elmers glue would make a good concrete substitute too ;)

sand and glue isn't going to be any more messy than mixing concrete.

Another good idea would be to use the empty caulk tube as a sabot, with that sort of power on tap it would make a killer shotgun with marbles.

or a single golf ball at high velocity :D but don't let these ideas run away with you, don't forget you have to go out and build the thing first ;)
