Summer Project... What do I make?

Oh lol. I guess it could be interpreted that way. You see, I would like to create a gun of that size, but it is likely that it won't happen because of my mom. But, if I tell my mom that it is a tennisball gun, she might let me, thinking that tennisballs as ammo would be harmless. Now do you get it?

I thought you were only spending $100 on fireworks this summer? Or was that just for the one specific weekend. Personally, I find that, given the cost of raw materials, buying premade fireworks just isn't cost effective at all. As usual, do it yourself saves the day.

And yes, the tennis ball gun idea is a good one. What's difficult for minds such as ourselves to understand is the shear lack of any logic, reason, or even basic knowledge inherent to a large number of people. When you say: gasoline, hydrogen, steam, explosive, fuze, flammable, propane, combustion, high-voltage, potentially lethal ammunition, or similar words, these type of people think: DANGER! DANGER! DANGER! immediately. No amount of reasoning, facts, or diplomacy can ever change that, and outright deception is often the only option.

Similarly, the words: helium, water, oil, safety device, moderately reactive, stable compound, exothermic reaction, high potential, or tennis ball do not conjure up these thoughts at all. A few will produce confusion, but some will produce a feeling of safety, which is what you're going for. The correct use of partial truths and euphemisms is essential to a spudder whose parents have these odd thought processes. Often, the actual demonstrated safety of a device is the only thing that can sway these people. After you build it, you're all good.

I am spending an ADDITIONAL $100 on fireworks, if I can muster it in time. That is in addition to my $120 or so I already got reserved. But, I am going wholesale, at $30 a case (6 500grams) its not too bad. But, of course you could get better bang (as in boom) for the buck making your own. But, unfortunately, I don't have the resources, (age, parental permission, etc) to do so. Although I already do know a good deal, and would definitely buy some books from skylighter like Introductory Pyrotechnics before I did anything beyond my comfort of knowledge.

But yeah, I know what you mean about words triggering thoughts. For instance, my mom would rather I make a cork gun than a marble gun. Sure, the cork would probably do less damage, but I could probably still get it to go through plywood. I wish it wasn't so complicated around here to get permission... Oh yeah, liscensing age for an ATF is 18 right?

Hmm that is interesting... I do have an M4 waiting to be torn apart, but the stupid stock keeps breaking off, and CA isn't holding it so well. Do you know anything about the durability of these things? I think that the dragonuv, SM6, and the G36's are pretty cool. Could ya hook me up?

they are plastic guns... very cheap airsoft springers except the one AK74u up there... thats electric... but still plastic..

The RC-P240 that we made was a cheap airsoft gun just like those and as you can see from our videos that its pretty strong...

Sweet, thanks. I've got a vortex block from noname already, but I'd consider making a vortex cap also at these prices. However, I have the problem of powering the gun again....
