I know - no offense taken - I'm just giving the best possible way for people as paranoid as me:) And I have taken a break from it, I may not, but who knows.
Try the experiment on larger diameter pipe.
Heating it weakens the pipe by a determined factor, but how far the joints are weakened, is questionable.
