Are qev hard to get into aus?
I only ask as in Australia they r worth around 50 but can buy for around 10 bucks online

Have you ever considered making your own? Once you understand the concept of how these sorts of things work, you can really fiddle to make your own to best suit your project. I don't like the idea of buying pistons, valves, etc.
If you can make something yourself, that's one more thing on your project that you can diagnose easily or modify.

QEVs are readily available in Aus, but like anything over the counter, they are not cheap. I'd stick with the eBay jobbies, even those square aluminium types have been used often at very high pressures

I got a 3/8 one for $9, hoping that's going to work well for airsoft ammo

Well I've had one of the 3/8" output valves up to 650psi, so I daresay it'll work reasonably well.... More than enough flow for your uses too
