Good job.
It outlines some traditional info.
But as I stated "traditional" as long as jack@ss gov'ts see our progress as "novelty" ("spud crap"), the better.
Why outline our achievements to them??? (know your enemy rule/ ...they WON'T know...).
(My idea of a good spud design)= anything spud-related, with POTENTIAL to take on about 3 glocks and maybe one 12gauge 1:3 or 4....
(and IF they knew...it WILL be copied [only better])...
So any way, other than that, it's a good idea to KEEP what we do, or know, "novelty" for now IMO... All I got to write on that. 8)

good point...
anyone with access to tools and some $ can build a high powered and accurate air gun.. guess what would happen if someone would use that knowledge to hurt others...
for example protesters on the next G8 summit??

I had my eye on APEC.. :aware:
Not really. But come on, in good 'ol America it would be hypocritical to ban improvised guns, seen as you can walk the streets with a handgun in your pocket, buy fireworks and do whatever.
However, in Australia..even blowguns are banned. How they intend to carry out bans on pieces of pipe, paper and nails I don't know.

What was that crap?! That was just about the weirdest thing I've ever heard about a theory on spudguns, which has absolutely no relation to the original post whatsoever. Do me a favor, will ya? Next time you decide to post in a topic of mine, try not to be stoned when you do it.

Nice work, it is well laid out. As mentioned, a bit of proofreading in order, pm if you need a second set of eyes to check it.
Mostly familiar, but the adjustable honing tool was new to me!
That link to copper rifling was cool. I wonder how well it would work to use the hex just to score the barrel and guide the spiral, with a single cutting bit running just behind. Then make six passes.

Maybe I am missing something, but where did you see a link? Did I miss the updated version or something?

As of yet, fellas, I haven't updated the book. It's coming, though. Just be patient.

edit: with regards to thunderlord.......ignoring the latter paragraph.......in a way i have to agree with you that if the australian media knew about the existance and potential damage caused by spudguns and also that people can make rifled pipes they would (not might) cause all sorts of trouble for all aussie spudders............BUT that is not of great enough concern to not put it on wiki

New version uploaded. This one has more detail on metal barrels and a couple more sections, including barrel supports and wadding and sabots. I've also included a little more detail and cleaned it up a tad.

OK When I saw this thread I was like "yeah OK blah blah". But then I decided to look and BAM, it helped me big time. I was trying to sand the inside of a tube to no avail, and I didn't want to spend money on a tube hone. This method you specified for honing looks like its the perfect solution. Thanks!

That's the old America.. Carrying a handgun requires permission. IE apply for and get a concealed weapons permit.
Many states are very restrictive on fireworks. In Oregon for example, anything that explodes or leaves the ground are illegal. Firecrackers, roman candles, bottle rockets with or without a report are illegal there. Other states outright ban all fireworks.
A good portion of the U.S. actually allows most every kind of consumer fireworks, including Texas, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Tennessee.
However, those of you living up in the staid Northeast (hey, I'm from the Northeast, so I can say that) have a tougher time of it. New York, Rhode Island and Massachusetts ban all consumer fireworks. Vermont and Maine allow only sparklers.

i found a great paintball barrel to day. you know how 1/2inch sdr 13.5 is a pretty good paintball barrel by it self? well i measured it and it is around .7 inches so a goo amount of blow by. i did a modifed sleev of it inside of some 3/4inch sch 40 and it is a PERFECT FIT. i think the only place it might leak around is the small gap from the slit required to get it to fit in.

That's nice. I'll have to give that a try and see what I can do with it.
