Epoxy question

Most household type of "Super Glues" are worse than an epoxy type for the simple reason that moisture will breakdown the bond.

There are industrial types that use a primer/surface conditioner that help a lot. These activators help the bond become stronger.

A proper surface preparation is required for any adhesive to work properly.

If you rough up the surface properly (use a file to cut a number of grooves), clean the surface well and prepare the epoxy correctly, allowing enough curing time, there is no reason why good epoxy should not hold.

I will give another go at the epoxy then with proper sanding and all the cleaning ...

I will tell you how it went.

I maybe found something ...

I could try to make grooves on the 4 aluminium surfaces wich are in contact and fill those grooves with epoxy.

Good idea, that would give it much better mechanical strength. Also go to a hardware store and get some new epoxy...make sure the packaging specifically says it works on epoxy, don't worry you'll find some.

Do epoxy pistons dry hard or somewhat squishy?

I was thinking the same thing. Aluminum can be soldered, but you need special flux and, IIRC, solder

I dont have anything to solder ( well my grandpa as a complete oxy-acetylen torch kit with regulators but i dont know how to use it )

I will make two hole beneath the part that failed, put a cylindrical piece of metal and adjust the height with metal shims. ( its simple and adjustable )
