Sorry for the double post, but have an update. Glued in a barrel piece to the piston today.. unfortunately it didn't PERFECTLY center so im gonna cross my fingers and pray it'll work..

Got a new set of calipers today... digital, only $40, but definitely a step up from the plastic dial set i was using. Accuracy seems good enough for me i'm not machining.

Don't be pissed, I realize this is a triple post but I have an update.

made a new front piece for the piston to seal against, and managed to get it fully leak proof. Working on the bolt and some other stuff for tomorrow.

EDIT: Silly me forgot to add the picture. 3/4" by 10" chamber. The pressure gauges are all just there to test for leaks, on the actual gun, they will all be gone.

Damn... I get my digital calipers for $10.00

In a buildlog doubleposting is inevitable.

Never posted this- but I got the block that was machined for me awhile back, thanks to Ramses. When I go home for spring break in 3 weeks I'll work on completing this gun.

Bit o' an update here...

Finally got the valve back to college with me so I'm working on it again.

Attached the QEV and slide valve to pilot it. Got it working... and I gotta say this sucker is LOUD!!! Even at 140 psi this valve is extremely loud, and the QEV pilots this thing extremely well.

The current configuration isn't what it will look like, I just threw it together with parts I had at hand. When I get a couple new parts it will be compacted much more. Also have the barrel on the way. I will post pictures of this when the new parts arrive and the mag block will be attached.

Need to get the rifle bolt machined by someone, and then I'll start testing it. Also gonna start making magazines so stay tuned for some updates finally!

Ramses did a good job, this should look good when finished :)

Mocked it up today.. nothings sealed yet, but i wanted to mock it up.

The aluminum tube is 36" long to give you a reference.

Just need to seal everything... get the bolt machined by someone... and then I'm gonna make a body for it so it actually looks like a rifle.

Will have some sort of linkage to activate the slide valve since its in a vertical position, or I may flip it again so its horizontal. Will probably do the latter. Also, feet just for JSR

I feel like there are much more elegant ways to go...

Gun Freak- As far as configurations go? I know there are. However a couple things are set in stone-- the block is staying where it is... bullpup configuration. I would've liked it to be lower, and may still work on a way to make that happen, but Idk. The pilot setup will be moved to make it more compact.. but remember eventually this will be put into a body so it's all hidden.

We'll see i'm just messing with various configurations right now

If you have any ideas let me know.. right now the above seems to be the most viable purely due to space requirements for the mag and pilot assembly unfortunately.

I have another idea that i like, but it makes the gun a bit wider than i'd like, but it may be the option I go with just to keep it as compact as possible.

EDIT: After much consideration, I cannot see realistically finishing this gun at school where I have very limited access to tools. As such, I'm tabling it for a month and a half or so in favor of continuing work on the gun I had posted a couple weeks ago.

can you flip the tank over so it's just under the barrel looks like it my fit, that would make it much nicer.

get a female to female tee and a all threaded bit of pipe to mount the valve to the reciver, that'll cut out like 10 mm because you don't have the hex parts shown. They are a cunt to screw in you have to use thread locker not teflon tape.

you have to use thread locker not teflon tape.
Or just screw it halfway in one fitting and punch a small notch in the threads to lock it at moderate torque.

I like the design, looks like a crude prototype that is only for testing and that`s nice IMO. Function before form!

I see a lot of wasted air...
Is you piston valve that bad so you need to use a QEV to pilot it?

Hm you know what I never even thought about not using it. The piston is very efficient. I could probably get away with just using the slide valve... Which would compact things greatly and reduce air waste. Damn dunno why I didn't think of this... Thanks man. When I get home today I gonna throw it together
