I've not found a regulator that could provide the high volume of air needed directly for a cannon shot. Lose the regulator and relegate it to the supply compressor. Simply run your local supply tank at the max pressure the cannon is designed to use.

If you are using the hose for an accumulator, be sure it's volume and ID are sufficient for the flow needed. Large diameter hose is expensive and hard to find. It may also cause problems with cannon mobility. It's no fun fighting the force of a large hose trying to make itself straight. Best to run a proper chamber on the cannon and use a smaller 1/2 inch or so supply line to the cannon.

I kinda wondered whether the regulator would be restrictive, hadn't planned on the regulator, i saw this as an unnesscessary expense. Thanks for the ideas and suggestions. Going to start my project this weekend and will post pics as I go allong. Will dry fit it all solicit feedback and give it a whirl.

I actually have one it's has 2" ports ! I'm not saying it would be good idea.. or cheap !

I really have to advise against using plastic as any chamber material.
This is because plastic has a structural half-life of about 3 hours when kids are anywhere near it.
And I'm assuming most of us would feel bad if it blew up in billy's face. most of us.

Also you might consider slapping some fiberglass on the barrel. $10 fix that'll increase the safety factor considerably.

Easiest valve setup I can think of:
Bulk chamber -> accumulator chamber -> sprinkle valve -> restrictor valve -> barrel.
If your small chamber fills slowly you might not need to separate it from the bulk one.
The restictor valve can just be a 1" ball valve. Set it where you want then remove the handle.
If more power is required, omit it and mod the sprinkler to open pneumatically.
