well that pipe was not at 300 psi. there is 2 kinds of pvc pressure rated, and non pressure rated. that probly was non pressure rated pipe. they put pressure in it and it exploded

EDIT: @ cork9. all i am saying is that that pipe was obviously not made for 300 psi. because it kind of blew up

ABS pipe is very durable and can take way more shock than pvc.

sure, its not pressure rated, but jut because it isnt doesnt mean it cant take a little pressure, maybe 75 psi or so.

just because a toilet doesnt say "flushy toilet" on it doesnt mean it cant flush.

take this guy for example, look at all his cannons.

I know that dwv and abs is safe for comustions. but i wa talking about pnuematic.

I can agree with that because its about combustion.

I really don't know where the talk of ABS being unsuitable for pneumatics comes from except as an extension of stories/scare stories of cellular core.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spud_gun#Primary_Materials

That includes industry reasons for using PVC and ABS with compressed air there. They don't use PVC of any description because if it takes enough damage it fragments viciously.

Suitable ABS piping is ADVISED for compressed air because it won't frag your head off if it ruptures because it splits instead.

yes, that is what i have been telling these people. ABS is thicker than PVC there for, it can hold more pressure. i am not by any means saying that pressure rated PVC can not hold pressure. I did not know there was pressure rated ABS.
@ spudblster15: how is that comment not relevant. he is talking about ABS pipe, and if you look at the top of this page, it is about ABS pipe, sow how is it not relevant

Super spudder, now you're just making yourself look like more of a dumbass.

That one just made me laugh and shake my head in amazement. Would you make a Play-Doh cannon, because it's thicker?

ABS is used in irragation systems and can handle some water pressuse but not that much coz it ruptures.
@ SpudBlaster15 How many times do I have to tell people... if you don't have any clue as to what you are talking about, don't speak!

In Australia the only reason we have ABS is for irragation set ups and reticulation set ups in the home or on an indusrial scale dosent matter. The sh@t was designed for that. Not for cannons. As I said it can handle a bit of water pressure but in the end if you over load it it will rupture.
Hence the crack in your barrel in the link from hi.
How do I know this you ask?? My uncle is a land scaper and for many years I have helped him. I went to make a cannon outa stuff he had laying around and that is what he said! Hence I dont make cannons out of ABS becouse it ruptures/ cracks/ splits/ blows up if it is used beyond its capabilitys.
Dono what the sh@t is used for over where ever you are but I've never seen it used in a hi pressuse gas/water aplication.

I could be wrong if I'am I retract my statements and appologise
