This will work for a semi auto tennis ball launcher, if you want full auto though you'll need a way of "pulsing" the air supply. Also, that air supply is going to have to be considerable for a sustained rate of fire.

At that scale, I would forget about air and make combustion cartridges, unless you have a ginormous compressor.
