You have to make sure that the dart is properly supported though, it has to remain straight while travelling through the barrel - if the sudden acceleration skews it then you'll lose power.

It will be a lot easier to obtain if i use the "arrest" method :) i.e. plastabloodycine

A very simple way to make sure that the dart seperates from the sabot is to line the end of your barrel with a little plastacine, JSR's idea.

Don't be disappointed with the result, I didn't expect that you would even achieve what you did. I'm going to have to try with the SCTBDC though, now that it works again. It'll be a while before I get the tank back though, at least a week. Stay tuned.

oh okay, i see..

I have a ingenious (at least i think) idea for APFSDS rounds- the sabot part... I'll share it with you when i finish testing it- might be a couple weeks, but if it works like i think it should, you won't be disappointed

Well after my recent "bum up" attempt to pierce steel plate with a dart (with my larger Hybrid that is, not to be confused with my sterling effort with my mini Hybrid  ) I figured that i needed to use a denser penetrator (i love that word), hence this lovely little 6mm dia Tungsten Carbide round. I plan on a 4x mix with a sabot to suit (point blank style  )
Anyhow check it out, it's SHINY :P

It was made from a broken end mill.

Edit: It is 32mm long, just under half a Rizla.
Edit Edit: I must also give a shout out to "Benji", A new member that has'nt posted yet, he is a friend of mine, so go easy when he starts to post if you don't mind :) although MrCrowely's new rules should cover that

... I want one.
Well, actually, I'd want a long APDSFS type thing made of Tungsten/Carbide more, but I wouldn't turn that down... (no, must avoid lathe pun...!)
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Well actually, it was not turned down! I used one half of a silicone carbide grinding wheel (6" dia) And then one linishing pad. :D

Wow. . .Thats amazing looking and I have no doubt in that going through a 1/4 thick steel plate at a decent velocity. . .

I like it so shiny to bad it's going to be pulverized :x .

I agree about the pulverized, as i gazed upon it's beautiful form today i realised that it was made to damage, alas. :pukeright:

Oh well that's the price of "Spud" acceleration.
